NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Westlake City Council will conduct a PUBLIC MEETING, Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible. This meeting shall take place at The Lodge at Westlake Adventure Park located at 5490 Kingfisher Blvd., Westlake, Florida, 33470.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that this is an OPEN MEETING, and the public is encouraged to attend. Meeting agendas may be downloaded from the City of Westlake’s Official website at www.westlakegov.com or be requested from the City Clerk’s Office.
Consistent with section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, if any interested party wishes to appeal any decision made by the City Council with respect to any matter considered at this meeting, such interested parties will need a record of the proceedings and may need to ensure that a verbatim record is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 286.26, Florida Statutes, persons with disabilities needing special accommodations in order to participate in this meeting are entitled to the provision of certain assistance. One Card, Countless Possibilities: Celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month
"Every September, libraries across the country celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month, a national campaign launched by the American Library Association to highlight the value of libraries and encourage people to discover everything a Library card has to offer.
One card can lead to countless possibilities. Whether you are getting your first Library card, renewing an old one or referring a friend, Library Card Sign-Up Month is the perfect time to discover something new.
This September, the Palm Beach County Library System is celebrating with a special incentive encouraging members to share the Library with friends and family.
Members who bring a friend or family member to any Library location to sign up for a new Library card, or renew an expired card, will be entered into a drawing for a special prize. Participants will also receive a limited-edition Pop-It keychain featuring the phrase “I Heart Palm Beach County Library System,” while supplies last.
A Library card puts a world of resources within reach. Members can borrow audiobooks and specialized educational kits, download e-books and e-audiobooks and stream movies and music. They can also explore newspapers and magazines, access accurate research tools and discover resources for learning new skills. A Library card assists with everything from homework and career development to mastering a new language or exploring a new hobby.
Beyond the collection, Library locations are places to learn, create and connect. Members of all ages can attend technology and health classes, participate in book discussions and social activities, explore creative events and receive one-on-one research assistance. Children and families can enjoy storytimes and activities that encourage early literacy, learning and a lifelong love of reading.

Palm Beach County Honors Overdose Awareness Day
"Palm Beach County joined communities across the nation on August 31 in recognizing Overdose Awareness Day, honoring those whose lives have been impacted by overdose and addiction while shining a light on the hope, strength, and resilience found in recovery.
At the HUB Community Resource Center in Belle Glade, Palm Beach County Mayor Sara Baxter presented a proclamation officially declaring August 31 as Overdose Awareness Day in Palm Beach County.
Spearheaded by Palm Beach County’s Community Services Department and hosted by the dedicated team at the HUB, the gathering began with prayer and set a reflective tone for a day centered on remembrance, healing, and hope.
The event featured several inspiring guest speakers, including Florida House Representative Meg Weinberger, Marcia Andrews of Palm Beach County School Board District 6, Belle Glade City Commissioner Tequilla Collins, and William Freeman, COE/Founder of People of Purpose. Speakers shared deeply personal stories of addiction, recovery, and resilience, reminding everyone that behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community.
The gathering concluded with a candlelight vigil and a moment of silence to honor and remember those lost to overdose and addiction.
Overdose Awareness Day is both a time to remember and a call to action, to reduce stigma, support those seeking recovery, and remind individuals and families that help, hope, and healing are possible.
Through community-based resources such as the HUB Community Recovery Center and the Community Services Department’s Behavioral Health & Substance Use Disorders Division, Palm Beach County remains committed to connecting residents with the support, resources, and services they need on their journey toward recovery.
