A Wind Advisory is in effect for our area until 11:00 AM EDT this morning, Thursday, October 11, 2026. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston, WV, has issued this advisory, indicating expected southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts potentially reaching up to 40 mph.
The affected areas include Dickenson and Buchanan counties in Virginia, and McDowell, Wyoming, Northwest Raleigh, Southeast Raleigh, Northwest Fayette, Southeast Fayette, Northwest Nicholas, Southeast Nicholas, Northwest Webster, Southeast Webster, Northwest Pocahontas, Northwest Randolph, and Southeast Randolph areas in West Virginia.
These gusty winds may cause unsecured outdoor objects to blow around. There is also a possibility of tree limbs being blown down, which could lead to isolated power outages. Residents are advised to secure any loose outdoor items to prevent damage or injury.
