Residents in Dickenson, Buchanan, McDowell, Wyoming, Northwest Raleigh, Southeast Raleigh, Northwest Fayette, Southeast Fayette, Northwest Nicholas, Southeast Nicholas, Northwest Webster, Southeast Webster, Northwest Pocahontas, Northwest Randolph, and Southeast Randolph counties should prepare for strong winds. The National Weather Service (NWS) Charleston WV has issued a Wind Advisory effective from 5 PM EDT today, October 10, until 11 AM EDT Sunday, October 11.

Southeast winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph. Isolated gusts up to 60 mph are possible along the highest ridgelines and in areas prone to downslope winds. These conditions may cause unsecured objects to blow around, tree limbs to be blown down, and could result in power outages.

Secure outdoor objects, such as patio furniture and trash cans, before winds pick up. Be aware of your surroundings when outdoors, especially near trees and power lines. In the event of power outages, have flashlights and battery-powered radios readily available. For additional information, visit weather.gov/rlx or check the NWS Charleston WV X and Facebook pages.
