Wind Advisory Issued: Gusts Up To 50 MPH Expected Through Sunday Morning
A Wind Advisory is in effect until Sunday, October 11, at 11:00 AM EDT for several counties, with gusts up to 50 mph expected, posing risks of unsecured objects blowing away and potential power outages.
Residents in Dickenson, Buchanan, McDowell, Wyoming, Northwest Raleigh, Southeast Raleigh, Northwest Fayette, Southeast Fayette, Northwest Nicholas, Southeast Nicholas, Northwest Webster, Southeast Webster, Northwest Pocahontas, Northwest Randolph, and Southeast Randolph counties should secure outdoor objects immediately.
The National Weather Service in Charleston, WV, has issued a Wind Advisory effective from tonight, October 10, at 9:48 PM EDT until Sunday, October 11, at 11:00 AM EDT. Southeast winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph.
These strong winds could blow around unsecured objects. There is a possibility of tree limbs being blown down, and a few power outages may occur. The strongest winds are anticipated along ridgelines and in areas prone to enhanced downslope flow.
