Drivers in the Lower Matanuska Valley, Southern Susitna Valley, and Central Susitna Valley are advised to exercise extreme caution due to a Dense Fog Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Anchorage. The advisory is in effect immediately and will expire today, October 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM AKDT.

Visibility in affected areas is expected to be reduced to one-quarter mile or less. This includes areas around Big Lake and along the Parks Highway between Willow and the Talkeetna Spur Road. Hazardous driving conditions are anticipated due to the significantly limited visibility.

If you must drive, the NWS advises slowing down, using your headlights, and maintaining plenty of distance between your vehicle and others. Prepare for sudden and significant drops in visibility. This advisory is active now and expires this afternoon.
