Dense Fog Advisory Issued for Susitna Valley: Drive with Extreme Caution
A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for the Central and Northern Susitna Valley until 2 PM AKDT today, with visibility as low as one-quarter mile creating hazardous driving conditions.
Residents in the Central Susitna Valley and Northern Susitna Valley should prepare for hazardous driving conditions due to a Dense Fog Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Anchorage, AK. This advisory is effective immediately, October 7, 2026, at 9:58 AM AKDT, and will remain in effect until 2:00 PM AKDT today.
Visibility is expected to be as low as one-quarter mile in dense fog. The NWS reports that dense fog has already been observed around the Trapper Creek area and through Broad Pass. In addition to reduced visibility, rain and/or snow is falling across the affected valleys, which may contribute to slippery road conditions.
If you must drive, the NWS advises slowing down, using your headlights, and leaving plenty of distance ahead of your vehicle. Be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions. A dense fog advisory means that visibilities will frequently be reduced to less than one-quarter mile.
