A Rip Current Statement has been issued for Walton and Bay County beaches, effective immediately until late Saturday night. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee FL warns of dangerous rip currents in these areas.

Rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Swimmers are advised to exercise extreme caution and are encouraged to swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, remain calm and float. Do not attempt to swim against the current. If possible, swim parallel to the shoreline to escape the current. If you are unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

This advisory covers South Walton, Coastal Bay, Coastal Gulf, and Coastal Franklin areas, specifically impacting Walton and Bay County Beaches. The statement was issued on October 3 at 3:34 AM EDT and is expected to continue through late Saturday night, October 4 at 4:00 AM EDT. Please prioritize your safety and follow all recommended guidelines.
