Evolution Welding Creates 40-60 Jobs in Chipley

Washington County commissioners unanimously approved a three-year tax incentive package June 2 for Evolution Welding, a manufacturer of roll-off dumpsters and trailers locating in Chipley's industrial park.
The company will receive a 100% tax rebate in year one, 50% in year two, and 25% in year three. Evolution Welding expects to create 40 to 60 welding and fabricating positions.
Evolution Welding will partner with Florida Panhandle Technical College to offer apprenticeships to local candidates. "The company's commitment to create apprenticeship opportunities will help connect local students with good-paying jobs," Commissioner Ashlynn Marquez, District I, said.
Commissioner David Corbin, District IV, called the tax abatement sound economic strategy. "The tax abatement is a small investment compared to the long-term impact these high-quality manufacturing and welding jobs will have on our community," Corbin said.
The expansion marks the second major business announcement in Washington County this year.
