A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Washington County, specifically impacting Chatom and Millry. Issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile, AL, at 7:27 AM CDT today, October 9th, this warning urges immediate action as severe conditions are expected. The warning remains effective until 3:30 PM UTC today.

Residents should plan for hazardous winds between 39 to 57 mph, with peak gusts up to 45 mph. Complete all property protection efforts as soon as possible and move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Potential impacts include damage to porches, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes, along with downed tree limbs and potential road impassability due to debris. Scattered power and communication outages are also possible.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 1-3 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Major rainfall flooding is anticipated, potentially prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.
