Strong Storm Threatens Lewis, Adams, Scioto Counties Until 6 PM

Residents in Lewis, Adams, and Scioto counties should be aware of a strong thunderstorm currently impacting the area. The National Weather Service (NWS) Wilmington OH has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective until 6:00 PM EDT today, September 20.

At 5:15 PM EDT, radar indicated a strong thunderstorm located nine miles south of Peebles, moving southeast at 25 mph. This storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny-sized hail.

Impacts include the potential for gusty winds to knock down tree limbs and displace unsecured objects. Minor damage to vegetation from hail is also possible. The NWS advises anyone outdoors to consider seeking shelter inside a sturdy building.

Areas expected to be impacted include Vanceburg, Rome, Blue Creek, Friendship, Sandy Springs, Garrison, Buena Vista in Scioto County, Saint Paul, Firebrick, Wamsley, Cedar Mills, and Turkey Creek Lake.
