Judicial Appointments
Judicial Nominations The 67th Montana Legislature granted the governor the authority to fill judicial vacancies through appointment. Upon receiving notice from the chief justice of the Montana Supreme Court of a judicial vacancy, the governor will solicit applications from and nominations of any lawyer in good standing who has the qualifications set forth by law for holding the vacant position.
