Wind Advisory Issued for Pima and Pinal Counties, Secure Loose Objects Now
A Wind Advisory is in effect for Pima and Pinal Counties until 11:00 PM MST tonight, with gusts up to 55 mph expected; secure outdoor objects and use caution while driving.
Residents in Western Pima County, the Tohono O'odham Nation, the Upper Santa Cruz River and Altar Valleys, the Tucson Metro Area, South Central Pinal County, Southeast Pinal County, the Santa Catalina and Rincon Mountains, and the Baboquivari Mountains should prepare for strong winds. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tucson has issued a Wind Advisory effective immediately, October 11, at 9:11 AM MST, until 11:00 PM MST tonight, October 11.
South to southwest winds are expected to reach 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 45 to 55 mph. The NWS indicates that the strongest gusts will coincide with showers and thunderstorms.
These winds can make driving challenging, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The NWS advises using extra caution on roadways. Additionally, unsecured outdoor objects could be blown around, and there is a possibility of tree limbs falling and some power outages.
To ensure safety, residents are urged to secure all outdoor objects before the stronger winds arrive. Drive with extreme caution, especially if operating high-profile vehicles.
