Titusville residents can now see Florida Tech’s major investment in student life with the opening of Crimson Crossing, the university’s largest student housing complex. The six-story building, located at Babcock Street and University Boulevard, opened its doors to students, serving as a new residential gateway for the campus.

Crimson Crossing represents Florida Tech’s commitment to enhancing the student experience amid record enrollment growth. The $96 million project, the largest capital investment in student life in the university’s history, spans 212,237 square feet and offers 556 beds in 149 apartment-style units. This addition increases the university’s on-campus housing capacity by 27%, providing space for its growing student body.

The building supports living and learning with modern amenities. The first floor includes a lobby lounge featuring local artwork, a convenience store, a multipurpose room, a classroom, and outdoor courtyards. Each apartment unit has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, complete with hardwood floors, granite countertops, and modern appliances. Private bedrooms are furnished, and shared living areas are ready for use. Laundry facilities are located on every floor.

Crimson Crossing emphasizes community and study. Each floor features a “Community Corner” with recreational options like treadmills, stationary bikes, pool, ping pong, and foosball tables. Students seeking quiet focus can use a “Recharge Retreat” study room on each floor, alongside additional study and lounge areas throughout the building. Florida Tech President John Nicklow said, “A Florida Tech education requires hard work, creative thinking and a relentless pursuit of excellence, and we brought that approach to this project. Crimson Crossing represents the innovation and vision that make Florida Tech so special.”

Construction of Crimson Crossing took approximately 15 months. The project incorporated light-gauge steel framing engineered for coastal wind loads and an underground stormwater system designed to maximize usable above-ground space. The building uses high-efficiency HVAC equipment, LED lighting, and high-performance exterior walls and windows for energy efficiency. The furnishing process required 30 semitrailers of furniture and over 125 pieces of artwork.
