Life-Threatening Storm Surge, Extreme Flooding Threaten Coastal Taylor

Coastal Taylor residents in Keaton Beach and Steinhatchee must remain sheltered immediately due to a life-threatening Storm Surge Warning, extreme flooding potential, and a Tornado Watch, effective until 10:15 AM EDT today.

Coastal Taylor residents, particularly in Keaton Beach and Steinhatchee, must remain sheltered immediately due to a Storm Surge Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective until 10:15 AM EDT today, October 10.

Life-threatening storm surge of 2-4 feet above ground is possible around high tide. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete; evacuees must be in shelters away from surge flooding. Do not venture outside.

An additional 1-3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, is expected, leading to a Flood Watch. Extreme rainfall flooding may prompt numerous evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings. Failure to take action will likely result in serious injury or loss of life.

A Tornado Watch is also in effect, indicating conditions are favorable for several tornadoes. If a tornado warning is issued, shelter quickly. Wind gusts up to 40 mph are possible, though sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force.
