URGENT: Life-Threatening Storm Surge Warning for Coastal Taylor
Coastal Taylor, including Keaton Beach and Steinhatchee, is under an immediate Storm Surge Warning from NWS Tallahassee, with life-threatening inundation of 4-6 feet possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning.
A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Coastal Taylor, including Keaton Beach and Steinhatchee, effective immediately as of October 7 at 11:00 PM EDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee warns of life-threatening inundation from rising water, with a potential for 4-6 feet above ground in surge-prone areas. This threat is expected from Friday morning until Saturday morning.
Residents in affected areas should finalize evacuation efforts and flood preparations immediately. If evacuation orders are issued for your area, leave at once to ensure safety and access to emergency services. Significant impacts are anticipated, including damage to buildings near the coast, washed-out sections of escape routes, major beach erosion, and strong rip currents.
In addition to storm surge, moderate rainfall flooding is possible, with an additional 1-3 inches of rain expected. This could lead to swollen rivers, overflowing creeks, and hazardous driving conditions. Heed any flood watches and warnings. Wind speeds are forecast to remain below tropical storm force, with gusts up to 30 mph. Tornadoes are not expected at this time.
