Coastal Taylor County residents, including those in Keaton Beach and Steinhatchee, must immediately prepare for potential life-threatening storm surge flooding. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL issued a Storm Surge Watch today, October 7, at 2:00 PM EDT.

Life-threatening storm surge of 2-4 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. If evacuation orders are issued for your area, leave immediately. Failure to heed evacuation orders may result in loss of life.

Wind gusts up to 30 mph are expected, with potential for sustained winds of 39-57 mph. Secure property now. Scattered power and communication outages are possible. Heavy rainfall of 2-4 inches is also forecast, with potential for moderate flooding. Be prepared for possible evacuations and rescues due to flooding.
