Tampa Microgrant Program: Up to $15,000 for Small Businesses
The City of Tampa launches a microgrant program Tuesday to provide grants and loan assistance to entrepreneurs and small businesses across the city.
Startup businesses operating less than 12 months with one to five employees receive $1,500. Established businesses operating 12 months or longer qualify for $3,000 grants if they submit a business plan.
The city also covers up to 20 percent of business loans, with a maximum of $10,000 for most microenterprises. Businesses in the Fresh Food Initiative can receive up to 20 percent with a maximum of $15,000.
Applicants must have household incomes at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Income. For a family of four, that threshold is approximately $83,000.
"This microgrant program removes barriers and creates real opportunities for Tampa's entrepreneurs to start, grow, and sustain their businesses," said Economic Opportunity Director Javier Marin.
The kickoff event takes place Tuesday, April 21. Media can speak with Marin and representatives from participating agencies.
