Mayor Castor Discusses FEMA Review Council Findings in Tampa
Tampa Mayor Jane Castor will be available for interviews Thursday, May 7 from 1 to 1:30 p.m. following the final public meeting of the FEMA Review Council, which presents its findings that day.
President Trump appointed Castor to the council on April 28, 2025. The council, established January 24, 2025, includes state governors, emergency management directors, and disaster response experts. Members conducted multiple public meetings and field hearings over the past year and received written testimony from the public.
Castor led Tampa through Hurricanes Helene and Milton in late 2024, which struck 13 days apart. The council's recommendations could shape how local and state officials prepare for and respond to future disasters.
The final council meeting begins at 11 a.m. at the Tampa Municipal Office Building, 306 E. Jackson St. The meeting is open for online attendance; details are available on the Department of Homeland Security website. Media outlets interested in interviewing Castor should email [email protected].
