Travelers in the Wind River Mountains, both East and West, should prepare for hazardous conditions as a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until Wednesday, October 14, at 6:00 AM MDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton, WY, issued this advisory on October 13 at 2:02 AM MDT.

Snow is expected, with total accumulations of a coating to 3 inches for elevations up to 9,000 feet. Higher elevations, 9,000 feet and above, could see 3 to 12 inches of snow. The period of maximum impact is anticipated from Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night.

The NWS warns that travel could be difficult, particularly across the backcountry. Hazardous conditions may also impact commutes across South Pass.

Drivers are advised to slow down and use caution while traveling. For the latest road conditions, residents can call 511.
