A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL for residents in Northeast Coastal St. Johns, Southeast Coastal St. Johns, Northern Inland St. Johns, and Southern Inland St. Johns counties. A strong thunderstorm, detected by Doppler radar, is tracking near Saint Augustine, moving north at 25 mph.

This alert is effective immediately, issued at 4:33 PM EDT on October 10, and is set to expire at 5:00 PM EDT. The primary hazards include wind gusts up to 50 mph and minor flooding due to heavy rainfall. These winds could potentially knock down tree limbs and displace unsecured objects. Localized flooding from torrential rainfall is also possible.

Residents in impacted areas, including Saint Augustine, Saint Augustine Beach, South Ponte Vedra, Nocatee, and Vilano Beach, should seek shelter indoors if outside. Do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning is accompanying this storm, and lightning can strike up to 10 miles away from the thunderstorm. Seek safe shelter inside a building or vehicle immediately.
