Special Weather Statement: Strong Thunderstorm Approaching Duval and Clay Counties
A Special Weather Statement has been issued for parts of Duval, Clay, and St. Johns counties, warning of a strong thunderstorm with wind gusts up to 40 mph and potential flash flooding until 3:15 PM EDT.
Residents in Coastal Duval, Eastern Clay, Trout River, Western Clay, South Central Duval, Western Duval, and Western St. Johns counties are advised to monitor weather conditions closely due to a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL.
A strong thunderstorm, currently over Orange Park and moving north at 15 mph, is expected to bring wind gusts up to 40 mph. This alert is effective immediately, October 10, 2026, at 2:39 PM EDT, and expires at 3:15 PM EDT.
Impacted locations include Jacksonville, Orange Park, Mandarin, Fruit Cove, Arlington, NAS Jax, Bellair-Meadowbrook Terrace, Ortega, Lakeside, and Riverside. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Additionally, torrential rainfall is occurring and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive through flooded roadways.
