Wind Advisory Issued: Prepare for Gusts Up to 50 MPH Through Sunday
A Wind Advisory has been issued for parts of Connecticut and Massachusetts, with gusts up to 50 MPH expected through Sunday, September 27. Residents should secure loose objects and exercise caution while driving, especially in high-profile vehicles.
A Wind Advisory has been issued for Hartford, Tolland, and Windham Counties in Connecticut, and Northern Worcester, Northern Middlesex, and Eastern Hampden Counties in Massachusetts. The National Weather Service (NWS) Boston/Norton MA reports northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts reaching 35 to 50 mph are expected.
The advisory is effective immediately, issued on September 26 at 1:24 PM EDT, and will remain in effect until noon EDT on Sunday, September 27. The NWS advises that gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result. The combination of prolonged strong winds, heavy rain, and fully leafed trees could increase the risk of tree damage and power outages.
Residents are advised to use extra caution, especially when driving high-profile vehicles, as strong winds can make driving difficult. Secure loose outdoor items to prevent them from being blown away or causing damage.
