Winter Weather Advisory: Southern Denali Borough - Travel with Caution
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Southern Denali Borough until 4:00 PM AKDT today, October 11, with additional snow and high winds expected, making roads slick; travelers should exercise caution and carry emergency supplies.
Travelers in the Southern Denali Borough, particularly south of Denali Park, are advised to exercise extreme caution as a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 4:00 PM AKDT today, October 11.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fairbanks has issued this advisory due to expected additional snow accumulations of up to one inch and wind gusts as high as 40 mph. These conditions are anticipated to impact roads and bridges, which are likely to become slick and snow-covered.
An early season snowfall is also expected from late tonight through Sunday, further emphasizing the need for preparedness. If travel is absolutely necessary, motorists should keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in their vehicle for emergencies. For the latest road conditions, visit 511.alaska.gov or call 511.
