Tropical Storm Warning for Southeast St. Tammany: Life-Threatening Storm Surge Possible

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Southeast St. Tammany, including Slidell, by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans LA, effective immediately from October 9 at 4:12 AM CDT until 12:15 PM CDT today.

Residents in surge-prone areas should remain sheltered in a safe location due to the potential for life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in shelters well away from potential storm surge flooding. Do not venture outside.

Wind speeds are forecast to be below tropical storm force, with peak gusts up to 45 mph. While significant wind impacts are not expected, conditions may still be gusty. Monitor for any instructions from local officials.

No significant rainfall or tornado threat is forecast for the area. Little to no impacts are expected from flooding rain or tornadoes. The NWS advises monitoring for any changes to the forecast.
