A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Southeast St. Tammany, including Slidell, by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans, effective immediately as of 4:12 AM CDT on October 9. This is an Extreme severity warning with immediate urgency.
Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete. Evacuees must be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding.
Residents are advised to remain sheltered in a safe location and not venture outside. Conditions may still be gusty with winds of 20-30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph, though sustained wind is expected to remain below tropical storm force. No significant rainfall or tornadoes are forecast.
