A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Southeast St. Tammany Parish, specifically Slidell, as of 10:01 PM CDT tonight, October 8. The National Weather Service in New Orleans predicts life-threatening storm surge with potential inundation of 3-5 feet above ground in surge-prone areas, continuing through Saturday morning.

Residents in affected areas should complete all evacuation efforts and flood preparations immediately. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave without delay to avoid being cut off from emergency services. Significant impacts are possible, including damage to buildings near Lake Pontchartrain and the Rigolets, and weakened or washed-out sections of near-shore roads.

Wind gusts up to 45 mph are possible, though sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force. No significant rainfall or tornado threat is currently forecast. This warning remains in effect until 6:15 AM UTC on October 9. Monitor local official instructions and follow guidance from the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness at gohsep.la.gov/emergency.
