Seffner Seniors: Local Resources & Elder Support

Seffner residents have access to a variety of local and regional resources for elder assistance, including programs for information and referrals, memory disorders, substance abuse, mental health crises, and Alzheimer's disease support.

Seffner residents can access a variety of local and regional resources for elder assistance. The West Central Florida Area Agency on Aging's Gate Keeper Program provides information and referrals for seniors. The program helps with assessments, case management, homemaker services, personal care, respite care, home repairs, and legal services. It also offers 911 cell phones for victims of elder abuse.

The Gate Keeper Program operates weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For assistance outside these hours, residents can call the 211 information program 24 hours a day.

The Hillsborough County SALT Council, a coalition of law enforcement, service providers, and seniors, also offers support. The council distributes File of Life Emergency pockets and 911 cell phones for elder abuse victims.

For information on Medicaid services or to file complaints about nursing homes and assisted living facilities, contact the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) at 813-871-7600.

Specialized services for memory disorders are available. Memorial Hospital Memory Center can be reached at 813-873-6430, and the USF Memory Disorder Clinic is available at 813-974-3100. The USF Suncoast Gerontology Center offers additional resources at 813-974-4355.

Individuals facing alcohol-related issues can contact the Adult Detox Center, which handles Marchman Act situations, at 813-238-9505. The Mobile Crisis Team provides crisis intervention, responding to scenes for mental health and capacity evaluations, and can assist with executing the Baker Act. Reach them at 813-272-2958.

Support for Alzheimer's disease comes from the Alzheimer's Association at 1-800-772-8672. The Community Care for the Elderly program can be contacted at 813-247-4252. The National A.D. Registry Program, formerly the Wanderer's Program, is available at 1-888-572-8566.
