The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deployed personnel to the Florida Panhandle to assist with Hurricane Isaias recovery efforts. The Florida State Emergency Operations Center requested the deployment. HCSO teams will join local, state, and federal partners in the affected communities.

On Oct. 9, 2026, two HCSO helicopter flight crews and an aviation mechanic departed. The agency’s specialized dive team, trained in water rescue and recovery, also deployed that afternoon. Both units are staged and ready to provide assistance once conditions allow for safe operations.

Sheriff Chad Chronister expressed pride in the deputies' commitment. “When our state needs help, we will always answer the call,” Chronister said. “These deputies are highly trained professionals, and I’m proud of their willingness to leave the comfort of their own families to serve other communities in need.” He recalled past assistance Hillsborough County received after Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

The HCSO Public Affairs Office will provide updates on the team’s deployment and any additional assets sent to support recovery efforts.
