Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation's 7th annual "Women & Medicine" educational luncheon on March 29 raised more than $170,000 for the Florida State University Internal Medicine Residency Program at Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH).
The event at Michael's on East in downtown Sarasota drew over 400 guests. Attendees discussed two primary care topics: maximizing the patient-physician relationship and the importance of the FSU Internal Medicine Residency Program to Sarasota County's future medical care.
The FSU Internal Medicine Residency Program trains newly graduated physician residents and aims to encourage them to practice in the Sarasota community, strengthening local healthcare resources.
The funds will support the program's operations and its mission to cultivate skilled physicians for the region.
