Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Adventure Island have a new leader: Brian Bacica. He replaces Jon Vigue, whose departure from parent company United Parks & Resorts was announced Thursday. This leadership change occurs as the parks implement a $200 million investment to enhance attractions and guest experiences.

Bacica's return marks his second tenure leading the Tampa facilities. United Parks & Resorts did not state a reason for Vigue's departure or his last day. Vigue was the third president to lead the parks since February 2025, following Jeff Davis and Bacica.

Scott Maupin, chief parks operating officer for United Parks, expressed confidence in Bacica's leadership. "Brian was there for the beginning of this transformation, and he's the right person to finish it," Maupin said in a release. "He knows these parks, he knows this team, and he knows exactly what needs to happen next." Bacica previously served as president from July to December 2025 before moving to Legoland Florida Resort.

The $200 million investment aims to introduce new attractions, animal encounters, dining, and entertainment to both parks. Recent additions include Lion & Hyena Ridge, a 38,000-square-foot habitat that opened July 25 featuring five male lions and two spotted hyenas, and Wild Oasis, a rainforest-themed family adventure area that opened in 2025.

Bacica brings over 30 years of experience in the attractions, hospitality, and food and beverage industries. He previously held leadership roles at Universal Parks & Resorts, Disneyland Resort, and Six Flags Great Adventure Resort.

"Coming back was an easy decision," Bacica said in the release. "There is nowhere else in the world like Busch Gardens, and I know what this team and these parks are capable of. We have the support and the resources, and we're not going to wait. Guests are going to see and feel the difference."
