Three Sarasota Deputies Graduate from Law Enforcement Academy

Three Sarasota County Sheriff's Office recruits graduated from Basic Law Enforcement Class 180 at the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy in Fort Myers on May 8, 2026.

Steven Petty, Colin Doyle, and Christopher Trudnak completed the training program, which included vehicle operations, firearms, defensive tactics, first aid, and DUI traffic stops. They passed all written exams and demonstrated proficiency in high-liability courses.

Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman, Major Ryan Brown, and Colonel Brian Woodring attended the ceremony. The graduates will now prepare for the state certification exam required to become law enforcement officers.
