Sarasota Man Charged With Murder in Double Shooting

Sarasota County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested Nicholas Novickis, 34, on Tuesday and charged him with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of animal cruelty in connection with a shooting at 4707 Mondrian Ct. in the Artistry neighborhood.

Deputies responded to the residence around 11:38 a.m. Saturday and found Novickis in the kitchen. Inside, they discovered two people dead: Allie Novickis, 34, and Phoenix Novickis, 6. The family dog also suffered a gunshot wound and died at an animal hospital.

Novickis is held at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility without bond.
