Sarasota Man Charged in Deaths of Girlfriend, Son

Sarasota County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested Nicholas Novickis, 34, on May 26 and charged him with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of animal cruelty stemming from a shooting at 4707 Mondrian Court in the Artistry neighborhood.

Deputies responded to the residence around 11:38 a.m. on Saturday, May 23. They found Novickis in the kitchen and took him into custody without incident. Inside the home, authorities discovered the bodies of Allie Novickis, 34, identified as his girlfriend, and Phoenix Novickis, 6, identified as his son. A family dog shot during the incident died at an emergency veterinary hospital.

Novickis is held without bond at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility. Investigators have not disclosed a motive. The investigation continues.
