SARASOTA — The Bay Park's first full-service restaurant cleared a design review Wednesday, moving closer to construction on the 5,000-square-foot waterfront dining establishment.

The City of Sarasota's Development Review Committee provided feedback on the unnamed restaurant planned for 10th Street and Tamiami Trail. The rectangular building will feature patios on three sides and floor-to-ceiling glass walls aligned with the Sarasota School of Architecture.

Venice Pier Group, which operates Sharky's on the Pier, will manage the restaurant under a profit-sharing agreement with The Bay Park Conservancy. Justin Pachota, the group's president, is overseeing kitchen design.

The restaurant must complete community workshops and submit an administrative site plan before approval. Pachota estimates the restaurant will open within a year.

Food and beverage revenue will help fund The Bay Park's operations, covering approximately 50% of expenses once the park is fully built out.
