A Beach Hazards Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco CA, in effect from October 12 at 3:51 AM PDT until October 12 at 10:00 PM PDT. Residents and visitors are urged to avoid coastal waters today due to dangerous conditions.

The affected areas include the Coastal North Bay, specifically Point Reyes National Seashore, and the San Francisco Peninsula Coast. These areas are expected to experience an increased risk of rip currents and sneaker waves, with breaking waves anticipated to reach up to 16 feet.

Hazards include powerful sneaker waves, strong rip currents, and large breaking waves, making conditions unsafe along the shoreline. The NWS advises the public to stay off of jetties, piers, rocks, and other waterside infrastructure. It is critical to remain out of the water to avoid hazardous surf and to NEVER turn your back on the ocean.
