Beach Hazards: Avoid Coastline Through Monday Evening
A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect for Coastal North Bay and San Francisco Peninsula Coast through Monday evening, warning of dangerous rip currents, sneaker waves, and large breaking waves up to 16 feet; the public is advised to stay off coastal structures and out of the water.
Residents and visitors along the Coastal North Bay, including Point Reyes National Seashore, and the San Francisco Peninsula Coast are advised to stay out of the water and off coastal structures due to a Beach Hazards Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco CA. This advisory is effective immediately, beginning October 11 at 8:45 PM PDT, and will remain in effect until Monday evening, October 12 at 10:00 PM PDT.
Dangerous conditions are expected, including an increased risk of rip currents and sneaker waves, with breaking waves anticipated to reach up to 16 feet. These hazards pose a significant threat to anyone on or near the shoreline.
The NWS urges the public to remain out of the water and to stay off jetties, piers, rocks, and other waterside infrastructure. Never turn your back on the ocean. For ongoing updates on local weather, surf, and tide forecasts, visit www.weather.gov/mtr.
