Beach Hazards & Minor Coastal Flooding for San Diego and Orange Counties
A Beach Hazards Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory are in effect for San Diego and Orange County Coastal Areas, bringing dangerous rip currents, elevated surf, and minor coastal flooding through Friday evening and Tuesday afternoon, respectively.
Residents and visitors in San Diego and Orange County Coastal Areas are advised to prepare for a Beach Hazards Statement and a Coastal Flood Advisory, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA.
The Beach Hazards Statement is in effect until Friday evening, with surf ranging from 3 to 6 feet and dangerous rip currents expected. The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 2 PM PDT Tuesday, anticipating minor coastal flooding around high tides.
Impacts include potential flooding of beach parking lots, boardwalks, and roads, with isolated road closures possible. Minor coastal erosion is also expected. Elevated surf will create strong rip currents and hazardous swimming conditions. High tides are projected to peak between 6.5 and 7.0 feet during morning and evening hours.
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. The NWS advises remaining out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
