Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Coachella Valley, San Diego Deserts

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning until Friday, October 9 at 8:00 PM PDT, with temperatures up to 108 degrees expected.

Residents in the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning should prepare for dangerously hot conditions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA.

The warning is effective immediately, beginning October 7 at 9:21 PM PDT, and will remain in effect until Friday, October 9 at 8:00 PM PDT. Temperatures are expected to reach between 105 to 108 degrees Fahrenheit, with overnight lows remaining high, in the upper 70s to low 80s.

The NWS warns that heat-related illnesses will significantly increase during this event. To stay safe, residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, remain in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. It is also crucial to check on relatives and neighbors who may be vulnerable.

When outdoors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. Be aware of the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and take immediate action if they appear.
