Tropical Storm Watch Issued for San Diego County Mountains
A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for San Diego County Mountains, including Julian and Pine Valley, due to hazardous winds and potential major flooding, according to the NWS San Diego CA.
Residents in the San Diego County Mountains, including Julian and Pine Valley, are advised to prepare for hazardous wind and potential major flooding as a Tropical Storm Watch has been issued by the NWS San Diego CA, effective October 9 at 1:57 PM PDT. This watch expires at 10:00 PM PDT tonight.
The National Weather Service forecasts winds of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Damage to outdoor structures, tree limbs, and power outages are possible. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 1-3 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts. This poses a potential for major flooding, which may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers and streams could overflow, and mountain areas are susceptible to rockslides and mudslides. Consider protective actions, especially if in a flood-vulnerable area, and heed all flood watches and warnings. Failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life.
Tornadoes are not expected. For more information and updates, visit sdcountyemergency.com.
