Residents in the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued, effective from today, October 6, at 12:33 PM PDT, until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT. This warning, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA, indicates dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures in the 90s, coupled with very warm nights where lows will remain in the upper 60s to mid 70s.

The NWS stresses that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. To protect yourself and your community, drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and avoid direct sun exposure. Check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable.

Crucially, never leave young children or pets unattended in vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in minutes. This warning applies specifically to the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills areas.
