Winter Weather Advisory Issued for West Glacier Region: Prepare for Snow and Wind
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the West Glacier Region, effective from Saturday evening through Monday morning, with snow accumulations of 1-3 inches and wind gusts up to 45 mph expected.
Residents and travelers in the West Glacier Region should prepare for winter weather conditions, including snow and strong winds, according to a Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Missoula MT. The advisory is effective from 6 PM Saturday, October 10th, until 6 AM MDT Monday, October 12th.
Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with higher amounts possible above valley floors and within Glacier National Park. Wind gusts could reach as high as 45 mph. Areas specifically impacted include Glacier National Park, Marias Pass, Essex, Polebridge, Bad Rock Canyon, and Highway 83 from Bigfork to Swan Lake.
Slippery road conditions are anticipated. The NWS advises slowing down and using caution while traveling. Backcountry travel is expected to be difficult. For current road conditions, residents can call 511.
