Lake Wind Advisory: Hazardous Conditions Expected for Area Lakes
A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect for Flathead Lake and surrounding areas until Friday at 9:00 PM MDT, with winds up to 35 mph creating hazardous conditions for small craft and potential dock damage.
Boaters on Flathead Lake and surrounding bodies of water are urged to exercise extreme caution as a Lake Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service Missoula MT.
The advisory is effective from noon today, October 8, until 9:00 PM MDT tomorrow, October 9. Southwest winds are expected to reach 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph.
These strong winds and rough waves will create hazardous conditions for small craft and may cause potential dock damage, particularly on the eastern half of Flathead Lake. Small craft are at risk of being overturned.
The affected areas include Flathead Lake and other surrounding lakes within the Flathead/Mission Valleys. All boaters should be prepared for rapidly changing conditions on the water.
