Wind Advisory Issued for Flathead/Mission Valleys, Gusts Up To 50 MPH Possible
A Wind Advisory is in effect for Flathead and Mission Valleys from Saturday evening to Sunday morning, with gusts up to 50 mph possible; secure outdoor objects and exercise caution while driving and boating.
A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Flathead and Mission Valleys by the National Weather Service (NWS) Missoula MT, effective from 6 PM Saturday, October 10th, until 6 AM MDT Sunday, October 11th. Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects and use caution while driving, especially those in high-profile vehicles.
For the Flathead and Mission Valleys, northeast winds are expected to reach 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Isolated higher gusts, potentially nearing 50 mph, are possible in west-to-east oriented gaps along Highway 35, including the Lake Blaine area.
A Lake Wind Advisory is also in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening, October 9th, with southwest winds 10 to 20 mph and gusts up to 35 mph. Boaters on area lakes should exercise extreme caution as strong winds and rough waves can create hazardous conditions for small craft.
Impacts from these winds include unsecured objects being blown around, potential downed tree limbs, and a few power outages. Drivers should use extra caution due to difficult driving conditions. Boaters are urged to be aware of the strong winds and rough waves which can overturn small craft.
