Day.News – Residents in the Wind River Basin and Lander Foothills, especially near Lander and Hudson, should seek immediate shelter indoors due to a strong thunderstorm moving through the area. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton, Wyoming, issued a Special Weather Statement at 12:19 PM MDT today, October 10.
Doppler radar at 12:19 PM MDT detected a strong thunderstorm near Lander, moving northeast at 30 mph. This storm is generating wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph, which could cause damage such as knocking down tree limbs and blowing around unsecured objects. The NWS anticipates the storm will be near Hudson around 12:25 PM MDT.
This Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and expires today, October 10, at 12:45 PM MDT. If you are outdoors, the NWS advises finding shelter inside a building for your safety. Secure any loose outdoor items to prevent them from being displaced by strong winds.
