A High Wind Warning has been issued for the Green Mountains and Rattlesnake Range, Natrona County Lower Elevations, and East Sweetwater County. Residents in these areas are urged to secure loose outdoor objects immediately.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Riverton WY issued the warning at 10:32 AM MDT today, October 11, 2026. The warning is effective from 3 PM MDT this afternoon until 6 AM MDT Monday, October 12, 2026.
South winds are expected to reach 30 to 40 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 65 mph. These strong winds will make travel difficult, and high-profile vehicles are at risk of blow-overs due to severe cross-wind gusts on area highways.
Ensure all outdoor items that could be damaged or blown away by the wind are properly secured to prevent injury or property damage.
