Residents in the Riverside County Mountains, San Diego County Mountains, and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning should prepare for strong winds starting Saturday, October 3, at 6 AM PDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued a Wind Advisory, effective until 6 PM PDT the same day.

East winds are expected to reach speeds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 50 mph. These conditions can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, and extra caution is advised. Unsecured objects may be blown around, and there is a risk of tree limbs breaking, which could lead to isolated power outages.

The NWS advises checking on relatives and neighbors. While the advisory focuses on wind, the NWS also includes general safety instructions such as drinking plenty of fluids and staying in air-conditioned rooms, which may be relevant depending on prevailing temperatures. Additionally, never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles.
