Residents in the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA.

The warning is in effect from Wednesday, October 7, at 11:47 AM PDT until Friday, October 9, at 8:00 PM PDT. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with temperatures reaching 105 to 108 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight low temperatures are predicted to remain high, in the upper 70s to low 80s.

The NWS warns that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. To stay safe, drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. Check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable.

When outdoors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. Be aware of the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and take immediate action if they appear.
