Residents in the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning should prepare for dangerously hot conditions with an Extreme Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego. The warning is effective from 10 AM Wednesday, October 7th, until 8 PM PDT Friday, October 9th.

Temperatures are expected to reach 105 to 108 degrees, with overnight lows remaining high in the upper 70s to low 80s. These conditions significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.

The NWS advises the public to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and limit sun exposure. Check on relatives and neighbors, especially those vulnerable to heat. When outdoors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, and restrict strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. Be aware of the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and take immediate action if they occur.
