The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA issued this warning today, October 6, at 3:38 PM PDT. The warning is in effect until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures ranging from the upper 90s to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Nighttime lows will remain very warm, in the upper 60s to low 70s.
During this period, the NWS states that heat-related illnesses are expected to increase significantly. To mitigate these risks, residents are instructed to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. It is also crucial to check on relatives and neighbors.
Crucially, never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures within minutes. This warning expires on October 8, 2026, at 8:00 PM PDT.
