Residents in the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures potentially reaching 108 degrees Fahrenheit on Thursday. Nighttime temperatures will offer little relief, with lows in the mid-70s to low-80s.

The warning, issued by NWS San Diego CA, is effective from Wednesday, October 7th, at 10 AM PDT until Friday, October 9th, at 8 PM PDT. This extended period of high heat significantly increases the risk of heat-related illnesses.

To protect yourselves and others, residents are urged to drink plenty of fluids and stay in air-conditioned rooms. Avoid direct sun exposure and check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable. When outdoors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. It is crucial to recognize and act upon symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke promptly.
